The Sèvres Ceramics Museum

The Musée national de la céramique in Sèvres

Initially set up at the beginning of the 19th century by Alexandre Brongniard, then Director of the Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory, the Musée national de la céramique houses one of the world’s largest collections of ceramics from all countries produced from the Antiquity to modern times, encompassing all techniques including pottery, tin glaze earthenware, stoneware, siliceous pottery, porcelain as well as enamel and glass. The Museum presently shelters 50,000 ceramics ; 5,000 of them were produced by the Vincennes-Sèvres porcelain  manufactory.
Part of these world-renown collections are permanently on display. A program of temporary exhibitions is also proposed to the public (see Sèvres Museum’s exhibitions).

The exhibition rooms are open 10.00 – 12.30 am and 1.30 – 5.00 pm except on Tuesday and on certain public holidays in France.

The Reading room of the archives and library of the Collections Department are open to the public upon appointment,
– Monday  1.30 – 4.00 pm
– Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 – 12 am & 1.30 – 4.00 pm
